“A TRIUMPHANT EXERCISE IN DARK AND DELICIOUS ROMANTIC AMBIGUITY.” –Los Angeles Times

We’re never sure whether Rachel Weisz’s superbly portrayed title character is a scheming femme fatale or a misunderstood woman. Based on Daphne du Maurier’s mystery about obsession, death and deception, director Roger Mitchell (Notting Hill) and his gorgeous 19th-century period piece leave it to the audience to puzzle it out.

Weisz’s masterful, subtle work is punctuated with ambiguity.

Sam Claflin (Me Before You) is 24-year-old Philip, orphaned as a child and raised by his older cousin, Ambrose. Philip goes to Italy to find Ambrose has died and Rachel, who he is convinced is his murderer, gone. When Rachel arrives in Cornwall, Philip is prepared to hate her but is almost instantly smitten….

My Cousin Rachel keeps us guessing. Every question has an answer, except for the fundamental one, the answer hidden behind Rachel’s black lace window’s veil.
