Powell is Becket Redfellow, an unlikely murderer with an unusual past. Confessing his crimes to a priest on death row, Becket claims the murder he’ll soon be executed for wasn’t actually his work. But, eh… all the others? That’s quite the story, and it begins with a teenage pregnancy.

Becket is from money, but never saw any of it, after billionaire grandad (Ed Harris) kicked his mother out of the family. Mum did her best, and always told her son to chase the life he deserved. When a grown-up Becket decides he’s had enough of scraping a living in the real world, he hatches a dodgy plan to re-enter the fantasy version. In short, he starts killing the other Redfellows so he can claim his inheritance. Fun times, then. Writer-director John Patton Ford steers this watchable, workmanlike remix of the 1949 British classic Kind Hearts and Coronets.-Irish Independent
